Can This Software Do What I Need?
Recovery success depends less on the file name you lost than on where the data was stored, what happened to the drive, and whether the missing sectors have already been overwritten.
I deleted files with Shift+Delete or emptied the Recycle Bin
Accidental deletion
SupportedDeleted Files Recovery is designed for files removed normally, with Shift+Delete or after the Recycle Bin was emptied.
I formatted a drive or the partition is still present but inaccessible
Full drive recovery
SupportedFull Recovery scans an existing local or external partition for recoverable files after formatting, corruption or other access problems.
The partition was deleted, lost or affected by an MBR problem
Partition recovery
SupportedPartition Recovery is the documented route for lost or deleted partitions, including cases involving a crashed drive, corrupted MBR or repartitioning.
I lost photos, video or audio from an SD card, camera or USB device
Media recovery
SupportedThe media-recovery path scans supported hard drives, USB storage, SD cards, cameras and other memory cards for image, video and audio files.
Windows no longer boots but I can remove or connect the affected drive
Recovery from a non-bootable PC
ConditionalRecoveryRobot's help page recommends connecting the affected disk to another PC as an external device and running the recovery there.
The missing file has already been overwritten by new data
Overwritten sectors
Not supportedRecoveryRobot can only recover data that remains recoverable on the storage device. Its support guidance specifically warns that overwritten or corrupted files may no longer open or be recoverable.
I need to recover data from an iPhone's internal storage
Phone-internal data recovery
Different taskRecoveryRobot Pro's mobile-phone recovery documentation is centered on removable memory-card storage. It is not documented as a native iPhone internal-storage recovery application.
I use macOS and want to run RecoveryRobot Pro on my Mac
Unsupported desktop platform
Not supportedThe current product page, download center and technical specifications identify RecoveryRobot Pro as Windows software and do not list a macOS build.
How It Works
The safest workflow is to avoid writing new data to the affected storage, run the appropriate scan and save recovered files somewhere other than the source being recovered.
Recover Deleted Files
- Install RecoveryRobot Pro on a different path from the location that contains the lost data.
- Choose the recovery mode that matches the deletion scenario and select the affected drive or partition.
- Run the scan, then use the result tree, search controls, thumbnail view or image preview to locate the files you need.
- Select the recoverable files and save them to a different storage location rather than back onto the source being recovered.
Recover from a Formatted or Inaccessible Drive
- Stop adding files to the affected drive and open RecoveryRobot Pro from another safe location.
- Use Full Recovery when the partition still exists, or Partition Recovery when the partition itself is lost or deleted.
- Let the scan finish before judging the available results, then filter or preview the found files.
- Recover selected files to another drive.
Recover from a Non-Bootable Windows Drive
- Connect the affected disk to another Windows PC as an external device, following the vendor's documented support route.
- Launch RecoveryRobot Pro on the working PC and scan the attached disk.
- Save recoverable files to storage other than the damaged or affected disk.
Product Interface & Workflow
RecoveryRobot Pro separates recovery by data-loss scenario, then moves from drive selection to scan results, preview and final file saving.
Recovery Mode First
The program starts by asking what kind of loss you are dealing with. Deleted-file, full-drive, partition and media-recovery paths narrow the scan to the scenario rather than presenting one undifferentiated recovery action.
Scan Results and Search
Results can be browsed in the recovered tree structure and narrowed by file name, extension, location, type, dates, size and case sensitivity. Image-oriented results can also be viewed as thumbnails.
Preview before Saving
The help workflow allows image preview before recovery. This is useful for checking whether the correct file has been found before using the limited free recovery capacity or committing storage space to the restored copy.
Compatibility & Coverage
RecoveryRobot Pro supports a broad range of Windows storage devices and file systems, but the product is not presented as a macOS data-recovery application.
| Area | Current documented coverage | Buyer note |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 11 / 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP; Windows Server 2008 / 2003 | Server use appears in the vendor license comparison and may depend on edition rights. |
| macOS | Not listed | No Mac build or Mac checkout option was identified on the current official pages. |
| Storage devices | HDD · SSD · external HDD · USB HDD · USB flash · memory cards · hardware RAID · CompactFlash · SD · iPod and more | The device must be visible to the Windows system for software-based scanning. |
| File systems | exFAT · NTFS5 · NTFS · FAT32 · FAT16 · FAT12 | Other file systems are not listed in the current RecoveryRobot Pro technical specification. |
| File categories | Documents · graphics · archives · multimedia · email · database/financial formats | The published format list is extensive, but successful recovery still depends on the remaining data on the source device. |
Features & Capabilities
The useful distinction is the recovery scenario: simple deletion, an existing but damaged partition, a lost partition, or media files that need a deeper scan.
Deleted File Recovery
- Recover files removed normally, with Shift+Delete or after emptying the Recycle Bin
- Search scan results by name, extension, location, type, date and file size
- Preview supported image results before recovery
Local & External Drive Recovery
- Scan local hard drives and supported external storage
- Recover from formatted, damaged or inaccessible partitions when recoverable data remains
- Work with HDD, SSD, USB and other supported storage devices
Partition Recovery
- Scan for data from lost or deleted partitions
- Use when the partition disappeared after repartitioning, an MBR problem or a related disk event
- Scan the entire drive when the original file location is no longer known
Photo, Video & Audio Recovery
- Recover supported media from hard drives, USB devices, SD cards, cameras and memory cards
- Use thumbnail and image-preview views to identify visual files before saving them
- Recover media from formatted or inaccessible removable cards when the data has not been overwritten
Important Conditions & Limitations
Data recovery is time-sensitive: writing new data to the affected storage can overwrite recoverable sectors, so installation and recovered-file storage should be kept away from the source whenever possible.
Do Not Install onto the Drive You Are Trying to Recover
RecoveryRobot's own instructions say to install the program on a different path from the lost data. Installing software onto the affected storage can overwrite data that might otherwise remain recoverable.
Save Recovered Files Somewhere Else
After the scan, choose another drive or safe storage location for the recovered files rather than writing them back onto the source under recovery.
Overwritten or Corrupted Files May Not Be Recoverable
The support page notes that recovered files may fail to open when the original content was corrupted or overwritten. Recovery software cannot reconstruct every file once the original sectors have been replaced.
Mac Is Not a Supported Desktop Platform
The current technical specification lists Windows desktop and older Windows Server versions only. No macOS download, system requirement or Mac purchase option is provided for RecoveryRobot Pro.
Phone Recovery Is Not the Same as Native iPhone Recovery
The product page's mobile-phone recovery section describes recovering data from removable memory cards used in phones. Buyers looking for direct iPhone internal-data recovery need an iPhone-specific product.
Edition Rights Matter for Commercial Use
The official license matrix separates Home, Expert and Business rights for areas such as commercial use, Windows Server use, company-wide use and technical service. Verify the edition that matches the intended use before purchasing.
Free Trial / Free Version
The unregistered edition can scan and evaluate recovery results, but the official help page limits actual recovery capacity to 50MB until the software is registered.
| Free-version point | Current documented status | Purchase relevance |
|---|---|---|
| Download | Free download available | Use it first to check whether the lost files appear in scan results before buying. |
| Recovery capacity | 50MB maximum in the unregistered edition | Suitable for a small recovery test, not a large restore job. |
| Registered edition | No recovery-capacity limit stated after registration | A paid license is required when more than 50MB needs to be restored. |
| Refund period | 30 days on the current vendor order page | Refund handling remains subject to the vendor's current purchase terms. |
System Requirements
RecoveryRobot publishes a Windows operating-system and storage-compatibility list but does not provide a current CPU, RAM or free-space minimum on the primary Pro product page.
| Requirement | Current documented value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 / 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP; Windows Server 2008 / 2003 | No macOS support is listed. |
| Supported file systems | exFAT · NTFS5 · NTFS · FAT32 · FAT16 · FAT12 | Choose the correct source drive and avoid writing to it during recovery. |
| Supported storage | HDD · SSD · USB drives · external drives · memory cards · hardware RAID and additional listed storage devices | The storage must be accessible to the Windows PC for software-based scanning. |
| CPU / RAM / installation space | No current minimum published on the reviewed official Pro pages | No unsupported hardware minimum is added here. |
Alternatives & Better-Fit Options
Use these SoftKeyRadar pages when a narrower RecoveryRobot tool or an iPhone-specific recovery workflow is a better match for the lost data.
RecoveryRobot Hard Drive Recovery
Use the dedicated hard-drive recovery page when the job is limited to local or external HDD/SSD recovery rather than the broader Pro toolkit.
RecoveryRobot Memory Card Recovery
Choose the memory-card product when the lost data is specifically on SD, microSD or another removable memory card.
RecoveryRobot Photo Recovery
Use Photo Recovery when the target is primarily lost photos, videos or audio rather than mixed file types and partition recovery.
FoneLab iPhone Data Recovery
Use an iPhone-specific recovery product when the goal is recovering supported data from an iPhone workflow rather than scanning Windows storage devices or removable media.
